Raising Love Episode 5

Living Consciously

You have probably heard this term a lot over the last few years. Living consciously.

But what does it mean exactly and why should you be doing it?

See your life is ruled by two parts of you. Your conscious thoughts, attitudes, choices, behaviours etc. and your subconscious thoughts, attitudes, choices, behaviours etc.

These two can be at odds a lot of the time because what sits within your subconscious is what really runs the show. Your thoughts, choices, attitudes and behaviours on a day-to-day level, on a minute-by-minute level, come from this place.

They are what you have ALREADY learnt and felt from moments in your past that get stored into your subconscious.

So when a similar situation occurs to the one you have already experienced, your mind dives deep into your subconscious for a memory, a feeling, a familiarity, comfort, evidence, guidance as to how to proceed next.

And, then that’s how you behave. Whether the situation right in front of you needed that or not. Very rarely do we act in the moment from that moment. No! We act from our past. From all of the stuff, we have stored in our subconscious.

That drives WHO we are and HOW we behave.

But what if you were to begin acting from your conscious mind?

Listen in to know more.

About Raising Love

Raising love within yourself as only you can.

It’s time to raise ourselves up with love and discover who we truly are inside. Without all of the punishment, hurt and unworthiness driving us into despair.

Raising love involves all women whose bodies and minds are filled with hate, anger, frustration, self-loathing, sadness, loneliness. And whose bodies have been punished over the years because of how you have felt about yourself for way too long.

Because you are a woman who is smart, funny, kind, loving, mindful, caring, inspiring, powerful, strong, bold and passionate. You have dreams, ideas and feelings which should not be dismissed. By anyone. Especially you.

This podcast is for all of you beautiful women who have said “ENOUGH”.

Whoever you are right in this very moment. Wherever you have come from. Wherever you are headed.

It’s time to raise love within yourself.

More ways to Raise Love

Hi, I’m Kelly and welcome to the Raising Love podcast. Raising love within yourself as only you can.

Brought to you by the Positively You program and Love body.

In this episode of the Raising Love podcast I want to chat about conscious living.

You have probably heard term a lot over the last few years.

Your thoughts, choices, attitudes and behaviours on a day-to-day level, on a minute-by-minute level come from this place.

They are what you have ALREADY learnt and felt from moments in your past that get stored into your subconscious.

So when a similar situation occurs to one you have already experienced, your mind dives deep into your subconscious for a memory, a feeling, a familiarity, comfort, evidence, guidance as to how to proceed next.

And, then that’s how you behave. Whether the situation right in front of you needed that or not. Very rarely do we act in the moment from that moment. No! We act from our past. From all of the stuff we have stored in our subconscious.

That drives WHO we are and HOW we behave.

But what if you were to begin acting from your conscious mind?

That 5% of your mind where your creativity lives, where your reasoning lives, your good intentions live and your logic likes to hang out with will and faith (no not will and grace. That’s a whole other thing).

But we cannot utilise any of that effectively whilst we live our lives ruled by our subconscious mind and all of the terrible programs which have been installed into our subconscious by our parents, our friends, people we have met throughout our life, relationships, our environment, society and all of the crazy rules that govern how we live, and by the one who tries to protect you the most but ultimately sabotages any chance you have of living your most beautiful life. Your ego.

So, It is time to start living consciously. And most of all begin creating the life you know deep down you deserve but haven’t allowed yourself to dream about because you have been living life ruled by your subconscious and all of those shitty programs telling you you don’t deserve a wonderful life.

But, in saying all that, your subconscious is awesome. It allows you to live without having to think about everything ALL the time.

Imagine having to drive your car every day as if it was the first time you ever drove. That would be annoying wouldn’t it? Or having to get dressed like a toddler. Going off to work with mismatched shoes on the wrong feet and buttons done up all crooked.

Your subconscious mind isn’t the bad guy. It is your intelligence, your leader, your navigator.

This isn’t about discounting your subconscious and never using it again. That would actually never be able to happen because your mind relies on your subconscious for answers and guidance. Everything is stored in there. Even if you can’t actually remember it.

Living a more conscious life gets you to notice your behaviours, notice your thoughts, and notice your attitudes and notice your choices. See where on earth they have come from in your mind and in your past to see if they still fit into your life now. They probably don’t.

But, really, the first step here is to understand another side to your mind.

Something I never knew existed until only a few short years ago.

I honestly believed my mind, my thoughts, my behaviours, my attitudes and my choices were what they were. There was no way I could change them. I was stuck with them for the rest of my life.

Then one day about 2 years or so ago, I heard this voice in my head. It said “you don’t have to be this way anymore. You can change”.

Well, that was it. That was the start of something massive. Something inside of me began to shift.

See, for about 30 years of my life my mindset was a train wreck. Out of every 100 thoughts I had there would be about 5 positive, leaving 95 negative thoughts floating around my head all day everyday. Experts predict we have approximately 50,000 – 80,000 thoughts per day, which is about 2,100 – 3,300 thoughts per hour. So if I have 95% negative thoughts then I have roughly 2,000 – 3,000 awful, judgmental, depressing, angry, frustrating, sad, rejecting, heartbroken thoughts every hour. Mostly about myself.

That is so many wasted thoughts.

What do you think when you hear it broken down like this? Do you feel like your brain power is being wasted on such terrible thoughts as well? Do you believe you do not have control over what you are thinking?

Or do you trust that it is possible to inject a positive mentality into your mind?

I have always been fascinated by the mind and how it works and over the last couple of years, since that voice spoke to me, I have been researching ways to improve my mind and really understand it more so that I can open it up to even more possibilities.

One book I absolutely love and explains all of this in so much more detail, is the book “Change your thoughts, change your life”; by Dr Joe Dispenza. And he writes about reaping the benefits of constructive efforts. Changing your thoughts, your behaviours, your attitudes, your choices; that doesn’t come easily. Especially when they have been so self-deprecating for so long. They have become a part of you. You live with them every day to the point you now believe they are true.

It’s time to un-believe them because it is possible to change them and learn how to create your most beautiful life using your conscious mind instead of the subconscious mind which flips the autopilot switch on every morning when you wake up.

Conscious living is a choice.

It is realising YOU have the power to create your life. But let’s distinguish the difference between creating and controlling. Controlling your life and trying to be perfect does not allow for things to happen beyond what you believe should be happening in your life. Trust me, I know.

As human beings we CANNOT foresee accidents happening, people getting ill, job redundancies, pets hurting themselves and needing expensive vet treatment and all sorts of other things which we have absolutely no control over. We can plan our life to the last minute detail but life always happens and life can never be controlled.

You can, however, create your life. By knowing what you want for your life and being open to HOW those things come into your life because the universe can present them to you in thousands of beautiful ways. Ways you never expected but are truly meant for you.

Living consciously also depends on your attitude about yourself, your life, your family, your friends. Knowing and understanding that we all have our own unique, painful and beautiful story and this story comes through each person in many different ways.

Your attitude is your own set of beliefs and how you use them in your everyday life. From the moment you wake up in the morning to the time you fall asleep, your attitude plays such a huge part in how you live your life.

How do you think your attitude is? Is it negative? Positive? Happy? Depressed? Do you believe you are lonely so you incorporate this attitude into everything you do?

This attitude was a huge one for me. I had this deep rooted belief that I was alone. I felt it in every part of me. It dictated how I lived my life. I kept friends at arms length because I believed they weren’t real friendships because I was meant to be alone. I didn’t talk to people because why would they want to talk to me. I am meant to be alone. I didn’t open up to anyone because I was meant to be alone.

I wasted so many great friendships which have now moved on because of this belief. Once I finally realised what I was doing, I stopped allowing this belief to take over. It is still there in a small way but being conscious of it gives me the strength to reject this idea, this attitude, this belief and replace it with thoughts that are more realistic. And more loving of who I am.

I don’t want you to waste another minute of your life living from a place of uncertainty, of hatred, of the same old boring, annoying thoughts, behaviours, attitudes and choices.

YOU get to decide TODAY that you are going to understand yourself more and know that you don’t have to keep living your life in any way you know is not the real you.

I want to ask you a question.

Who do you think has had the most influence over the attitude you have right now about yourself and your life? And, what lies beneath, hidden away in your subconscious?

Your mum? Dad? Siblings? Friends? A particular teacher? Who?

For me it was definitely my mother. My father was not around enough. Though he certainly influenced my lonely feeling.

As kids we live more of a conscious life than we do as adults. We want what we want and we ask for it. We live life with such joy and curiosity and the future is hardly a fleeting thought as we live in the moment and enjoy the moment for what it is.

But when the adults around us use their own programming to direct our behaviour as kids, stop us from having fun, yelling at us, abusing us physically and emotionally, not showing us love, rejecting us, saying no to us, putting us down, disregarding us… this all leads to unwanted programming that gets installed into our subconscious mind.

Then we grow up and the programmes run our life in the background and we forget that we have every right, every choice, every chance and every ability to reprogram our minds.

Becoming conscious of life choices, behaviours and attitudes frees you from this negative programming.

Because you, and only you, know exactly what your life is supposed to be.

So, before I wrap up I want to give you this power move.

Over the next week take note of your thoughts, attitudes, choices and behaviours. Grab yourself a beautiful journal or notebook and write them down.

Don’t worry about how awful they may be. No one needs to see your list except for you.

Track as much as you can. At the end of the week take some time to go through them. Read them carefully and let them sit with you for a few moments. How do they make you feel? What are some more worthy attitudes and behaviours that you could replace them with, and start using right away from your conscious mind?

Begin consciously using 2 or 3 of them throughout your day and notice how you feel now. Do you feel worse? Better? Happier? More joyful?

I wish I could tell you that living more consciously has an end to it. It doesn’t. Especially when you have hundreds of programs which need to be deleted and new ones installed but that is all part of the process. Of finding yourself and giving yourself a chance.

To learn and to grow is to be human.

Now go out there and be the best human you know how to be. She will only become more alive if you keep putting in the work. Keep raising love with yourself. Everyday.
